Champion
Coaches Program.
Coaching is one of the most challenging,
yet rewarding professions in the world today. Whether a
full-time coach in the NFL, top Division One program or
local high school, coaching is a lifestyle that provides
both rewarding and exhilarating moments as well as frustrating
and disappointing ones. Coaching is not a 9a.m. - 5p.m.
job and takes incredible amounts of physical and mental
energy both on and off the field of play. Every single
coach knows this experience, sometimes loving it and other
times exhausted by it. Most of sport psychology focuses
on assisting athletes to perform their best, but minimal
attention is paid to coaches. Having worked with numerous
coaches at all levels of sport – Olympic, professional,
college, high school and youth, the Athletic Mind Institute
is committed to the coaches themselves. Coaching brings
tremendous amounts of responsibility, stress, and chaos
and coaches are required to fulfill far too many roles
today, added to the fact that the pressure to win is at
an all-time high. Indeed, they have to be “on their
game” or the team, franchise, school, league or organization
will suffer. Knowing these facts, the Athletic Mind
has created the Champion Coaches Program to assist coaches
in being at their best on a consistent basis both
on and off the field of play.
Benefits of This Program
“Working with
Dr. Kays in the Champion Coaches Program is an excellent
mechanism to provoke thought, gain perspective from
other respected colleagues, and re-charge a coach’s
battery. The interactive seminar and personal
connection on our little coaching islands reminds
us that we are all competing against the same opponent:
Mediocrity. While it’s an exhausting
battle, it’s important to remember that we
are not alone and that our efforts as educators are
eternal. Perspective and support are gained
across sports, divisions, and institutions. The
program is an invigorating process.” – Lori

“I
received excellent information about balancing life,
managing stress, keeping hobbies, and spending time
away from work. Recruiting discussions were
very beneficial. I learned to recruit the person,
not the talent level. Finally, our talks about motivation
were very insightful, like how to develop trust and
getting kids to perform at a high level.” – Gregg

How It Works
Each coach will be interviewed by Dr. Todd Kays in-person
or over the phone. The needs and greatest concerns will be
prioritized and Dr. Kays will recommend the most immediate
steps. Coaches can use Dr. Kays in numerous ways, including
attending seminars, one on one work, email and phone contact,
reading his books and articles, and on-site training with
coaching staffs, assistant coaches and teams. Primary focus,
however, is always on the individual coach. Call today
